Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sebelas Maret University (FMIPA UNS) Surakarta is one of the higher education institutions in Indonesia that provides education and teaching at the undergraduate level (S1) which relies on the Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 2 of 1989 article 38 (1), article 39 paragraph (1) (2) and article 13 paragraph (1) and Government Regulation no. 30 of 1990. The Department of Chemistry, FMIPA UNS, through the Chemistry Study Program, also assumes responsibility for civilizing the science of Chemistry in Indonesia and carries out the functions and duties to prepare human resources with special expertise in Chemistry who are expected to be able to play an active role in various fields of activity.

1. Organizing undergraduate chemistry education programs towards international quality.
2. Carrying out research in the field of chemistry that is of high quality and published both nationally and internationally.
3. Organizing programs for the application of chemistry and the results of chemical research to the public.
