Informatics Study Program FMIPA UNS is one of the study programs at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta which was established on January 29, 2007 under the name Computer Science Study Program through SK Establishment 163/D/T/2007. In 2009 it changed its name to the Informatics Study Program based on the letter of extension of the operational permit.
The Informatics Study Program FMIPA UNS currently has 17 teaching staff, consisting of 7 teaching staff with doctoral education, and 10 teaching staff with master’s education, out of 10 teaching staff who are still masters, 4 of whom are pursuing doctoral education abroad. The teaching staff of the Informatics study program are divided into 4 (four) research groups, namely: Computational Science and Engineering (CSE), Computer and Network Security (CNS), Data, Information and Knowledge Engineering (DIKE), and Intelligence Systems and Humanized Computing (ISHC). Staff development of the Informatics Engineering Study Program FMIPA UNS is carried out by sending staff to attend training, seminars (conferences), and further studies both at home and abroad.
The curriculum of the Informatics Study Program, FMIPA UNS, refers to one of the ACM Computing Curricula 2013 and ACM Computing Curricula 2020 which are adapted to the addition of local content. Periodically the curriculum is evaluated and adjusted to developing conditions by involving all academic staff through workshops every two years. The involvement of stakeholders and alumni is manifested in the form of customer satisfaction surveys and tracer studies which are routinely carried out every semester/year.
In the research field, the Informatics Study Program FMIPA UNS provides facilities to lecturers in the form of the availability of research laboratory facilities, which consist of Computational Science and Engineering (CSE), Computer and Network Security (CNS), Data, Information and Knowledge Engineering (DIKE), and Intelligence Systems. and Humanized Computing (ISHC). The outputs of the research have been published in international journals, national journals and through seminars/conferences at both national and international levels. The achievement of research that passes the research funding grant is also quite large, at least one proposal can be financed in one grant scheme.
Community Service is carried out by the Informatics Study Program with two schemes, namely the implementation of research results and training. The training on the use of ICT for learning has received quite a good response from the community. This is evident from the request for training from the school/school group.
In the field of cooperation with external parties, the Informatics Study Program of FMIPA UNS collaborates in the form of internships, visiting professors/lecturers, research and community service and learning that leads to the curriculum. These institutions/institutions come from within the country, including: PT TELKOM, GamaTechno, TRUST ACADEMIC SOLUTIONS, PT INKA and abroad, including the University of SAGA, University Technology of Malaya (UTeM), and Meiwa Industry Co., Ltd.
The Informatics Study Program has completed the study program re-accreditation process. Based on the decision of BAN-PT No. 1081/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/IV/2018, the UNS Informatics study program obtained Accreditation A which is valid for 5 (five) years from April 17, 2018 to April 17, 2023.
