BACHELOR OF MATHEMATICS

Welcome to the web page of the S1 Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta. An appreciation for us, for your visit on this page. The progress of science and technology (IPTEK), which is increasingly developing, demands the role of scientists and researchers to have high motivation and work ethic as well as adequate academic quality. We hope to produce quality graduates with scientific works of international reputation supported by superior human resources (HR) and adequate laboratory facilities.

Universitas Sebelas Maret  has proclaimed to be a World Class University (WCU). The establishment of the S1 Mathematics Study Program will support the achievement of these goals. The hope in the future is to be able to produce quality human resources (HR) for the development of science and technology and play a role in research, technology development that is useful in various fields of knowledge, especially Mathematics.

Best regards,

Dr. Drs. Siswanto, M.Si.
Head of the Mathematics S1 Study Program, FMIPA UNS

Dr. Drs. Siswanto, M.Si.

Head of the Mathematics S1 Study Program FMIPA UNS

Overview

The Mathematics Study Program of FMIPA UNS is the embryo of the founding of FMIPA UNS which was initiated in 1982. In 1986 – 1994 a collaboration was held between UNS and the Australian International Development Project (IDP) in the development of basic sciences, especially Mathematics. The forms of cooperation include technical assistance activities for the teaching and learning process as well as materials and curriculum designs for the field of operations research. It was this collaboration that was finally able to bridge the establishment of the Mathematics Study Program in the Civil Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, UNS based on the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education Number 206/D2/1989 dated January 26, 1989.

On July 12, 1995, it was proposed to the Director General of Higher Education regarding the establishment of FMIPA UNS. The Minister of Education and Culture issued a decree for the establishment of FMIPA UNS which is the 9th faculty with several study programs, namely the Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology Study Program through the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia dated October 1, 1996 Number: 0297/0/1996. The factor that encouraged the opening of the Mathematics Study Program of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UNS was the fact that in order to improve the implementation of national development it was necessary to develop science, especially the basic sciences, which support the development of technology and potential human resources.

Testimonials

I am happy and proud to be part of UNS Mathematics Study Program, I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge here. Thank you Math UNS.

Himawan Yusuf

Lecturer of PKN STAN

In Mathematics Study Program, apart from practicing hard skills, we also get a lot of soft skills.

Edwin Kristianto

Surakarta Kalam Kudus Christian Middle School Teacher

Studying mathematics at UNS made me more able to hone logic. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to explore mathematical theories that were useful for my foundation in continuing my Master in Actuarial Science and Doctoral studies in Strategic Management, as well as helping in exploring industrial phenomena so that it was easier to build modeling in my professional work.

Dwi Widianto

Research & Data Science Head International Insurance Company

When Mathematics then plunged into the real world of work, many found things that could be done for Mathematics graduates, either to open their own business or work in companies. Hopefully the Mathematics Study Program will continue to develop, have adaptive and innovative programs or courses to equip students to enter the business world.
