The progress of science and technology (IPTEK), which is increasingly developing, demands the role of scientists and researchers to have high motivation and work ethic as well as adequate academic quality. We hope to produce quality graduates with scientific works of international reputation supported by superior human resources (HR) and adequate laboratory facilities.

Universitas Sebelas Maret has proclaimed to be a World Class University (WCU). The establishment of the Bachelor of Pharmacy Study Program will support the achievement of these goals. The hope in the future is to be able to produce quality human resources (HR) for the development of science and technology and play a role in research, technology development that is useful in various fields of knowledge, especially Pharmacy.

The Bachelor of Pharmacy Study Program (PS) is the 8th study program within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), which was established on May 22, 2013 based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 209/E/O/2013. PS S1 Pharmacy FMIPA UNS was established in order to meet the market needs for superior pharmacists and at the encouragement of UNS’s capabilities, both human resources and infrastructure. Since 2019, PS S1 Pharmacy FMIPA UNS has accredited B (Good) status from the Indonesian Health Higher Education Independent Accreditation Institute (LAM-PTKes) based on Decree No. 0201/LAM-PTKes/Akr/Sar/IV/2019. PS S1 Pharmacy FMIPA UNS is a member of the 88th Association of Indonesian Pharmacy Colleges (APTFI), and sits as a member of the APTFI Assembly for the 2019-2023 period.

Advantages and Specification

Pharmacy Study Program FMIPA UNS has built itself as an educational institution that produces graduates who have general pharmacy competencies by accommodating the advantages of science-technology and community-oriented clinical pharmacy excellence. Study Program also builds graduates who have an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to practice community-oriented pharmacy. Study Program also develops the noble values ​​of the nation’s culture in shaping the character of graduates. In research activities, Study Program encourages the development of natural medicine and natural cosmetics products, the development of formulations and analytical methods for phytopharmaceuticals, generic drugs, cosmetics, and vaccines, as well as pre-clinical studies and clinical trials of natural medicines and synthetic drugs, including evaluation of the use drugs, rationality analysis, aspects of pharmacovigilance, and pharmacoeconomics of drug therapy.

Goals:

  1. Organizing quality education to produce competent pharmacy graduates in the fields of science-technology and community-clinic.
  2. Carry out research activities that support the implementation of education and produce various superior innovations in the pharmaceutical field.
  3. Carry out community service activities based on research results in the pharmaceutical sector to improve public health status.
  4. Building strategic and sustainable cooperation with stakeholders both nationally and internationally in order to realize the Tridharma of Higher Education.

  1. Implementing clinical and community pharmacy services: A pharmacy graduate who runs the practice of pharmacy services in clinical and community pharmacy in pharmacy facilities, pharmacy installations in hospitals, health centers, and clinics
  2. Pharmaceutical supply manager: A pharmacy graduate who carries out pharmaceutical practice including the management of pharmaceutical preparations, and medical devices.
  3. Distributor of pharmaceutical supplies: A pharmacy graduate who carries out pharmaceutical practice including distribution or distribution of pharmaceutical supplies at PBF (Pharmaceutical Wholesalers) facilities.
  4. Executor of pharmaceutical preparations production: A pharmacy graduate who carries out pharmaceutical practice including design, production and quality assurance in drug industry facilities, drug raw material industry, traditional medicine industry, and cosmetic industry.
  5. Supervisor of the circulation of pharmaceutical preparations: A pharmacy graduate who carries out pharmaceutical practice in supervising the circulation of drugs and food in the means of production, distribution, and service of drugs and food.
  6. Educator: A pharmacy graduate who practices pharmacy as an educator/academic/educator for patients, the community, and other health workers
  7. Researcher: A pharmacist who practices pharmacy as a researcher in the discovery and development of pharmaceutical preparations.
  8. Pharmapreneur: A pharmacy graduate who is expected to become an entrepreneur in developing independence and helping the welfare of society.

Achievement Strategy

Governance and management:

  1. Improving Study Program governance by compiling SOPs and quality target guidelines and implementing information technology-based management Infrastructure
  2. Improve facilities and infrastructure to support PBM such as lecture facilities and infrastructure as well as laboratory equipment and chemicals.
  3. Improve information facilities through the provision of academic information systems, internet facilities via LAN and WLAN (hotspot).

Education:

  1. Improving the quality of graduates, with parameters of GPA, study time, and waiting time for graduates. Preparing the establishment of a pharmacist profession program (PSPA) to facilitate further study for graduates.
  2. Improving the quality of input for prospective students both nationally and internationally
  3. Improving the quality and efficient implementation of PBM as well as the careful use of information technology and resources in PS.
  4. Develop a curriculum that is relevant to the development and needs of the labor market, one of which is through a tracer study.
  5. Carry out guest lectures on a scheduled basis by involving national and international experts/practitioners
  6. Develop international academic activities for students, such as student exchanges, workshops, student internships, etc.
  7. Increase cooperation in the field of education with government and private institutions, both at home and abroad.

  2. Develop activities to improve hard-skills and soft-skills that support and complement students’ academic abilities

  1. Improving the educational qualifications of teaching staff to carry out further studies to the doctoral level, through domestic and foreign scholarships in accordance with the field of pharmacy that supports the vision and mission of PS.
