The Undergraduate Biology study program is responsible for developing human resources with knowledge and skills in the field of biology and a least KKNI level 6 certificate. To achieve these obligations, the Department of Biology has implemented suitable educational techniques and procedures through the creation of quality personnel, future-oriented curriculum that is regularly examined and revised, as well as proper administration and infrastructure.

Overview
The bachelor’s program in Biology is one of study program offered at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta (UNS). This study program was established to take advantage of the Indonesia’s high biodiversity level (i.e., flora, fauna, microorganisms) that can support bioproduct development with full consideration of environmental sustainability. Since 2010, the bachelor’s program in Biology has been accredited as A three times in a row by the national accreditation agency. In the year 2018, the program was also certified by the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance. Graduates of this program can pursue their careers in various fields of occupation, e.g., education, research, agriculture, plantation, forestry, fishery, farm, medical, pharmacy, environment, conservancy, and industry. Many graduates also decided to pursue a higher education level.

- To produce bachelor’s degree in Biology with integrity, independence, attitude, perceptive to global progress, and contribute to the development of science and technology.
- To produce research in the field of Biology beneficial for developing bioproducts, such as biomaterial, bioenergy, and bioinformatics (note: useful for the development of education, research, and community service).
- To increase quantity and quality of service and collaboration in the field of Biology with government institutions, the business and industry world on a national and international scale.
