MASTER OF PHYSICS

Welcome to the web page of the Physics Masters Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta. An appreciation for us, for your visit on this page. The progress of science and technology (IPTEK), which is increasingly developing, demands the role of scientists and researchers to have high motivation and work ethic as well as adequate academic quality. We hope to produce quality graduates with scientific works of international reputation supported by superior human resources (HR) and adequate laboratory facilities.

Universitas Sebelas Maret has proclaimed to be a World Class University (WCU). The establishment of the Master of Physics Study Program will support the achievement of these goals. The hope in the future is to be able to produce quality human resources (HR) for the development of science and technology and play a role in research, technology development that is useful in various fields of knowledge, especially Physics.

The Physics Masters Study Program, FMIPA Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) was officially established based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number 2360/D/T/2008. Meanwhile, the operational activities of academic activities began in the 2009/20010 academic year. With regard to the development of science and technology, especially telecommunications technology in the last two decades, the development of the quality of human resources (HR), especially through the mastery of Physics as the parent of technology, is very necessary. It is well known that physics contributed to the invention of hard disk drives, memory (RAM) and flat monitors, which are the backbone of today’s information technology. Mastery of SAINTEK frontier is in line with the demands of education, namely educating the nation’s life as stated in the preamble of UUN 45. To deal with this demand, the 1945 amendments have mandated state administrators to increase the portion of the education budget with the aim of aligning the nation’s life in terms of improving the quality and quantity of education. Until finally the Indonesian people were able to contribute in the development of science/science and technology. The Physics Masters Study Program, FMIPA UNS is one of the real efforts in the field for the development of the quality of Indonesian human resources based on the spirit of the 19945 Constitution, which is oriented towards the rights and obligations to obtain education for all Indonesian citizens. Based on the foregoing, the Master of Physics Study Program developed 3 fields of scientific study, namely (i) Theory & Particle Physics including medical physics (radiation & nuclear physics), (ii) Electronic Materials Physics including instrumentation studies, and ( iii) Photonic Physics including solar cells and lasers. The Master’s Degree Program in Physics at FMIPA UNS is accredited A based on BAN PT Decree no. 2612/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/M/VIII/2017. The recognition of the highest quality of management of the study program from BAN PT further adds motivation to continuously improve management to be better in the future.
